Why cowbells?

Pasture bell, cowbells or bells have been hung around the cattle in agriculture to protect the herd for many years. If something is wrong with the animals or a predator approaches the herd, the farmer, shepherd or alpine farmer hears this based on the sound of the bells and can react accordingly quickly. The person responsible also finds the animals reliably even in the thickest of fog when all technical aids have already failed.
A bell usually consists of various coordinated treicheln, bells and bells with different sounds. This means that every bell is unique.
